I appreciate the sentiment here, but I don’t like this. Evolution is not sentient. Sometimes evolution results in stupid things: Why do humans have an appendix that can kill us? Why do manta rays take so long to reach sexual maturity and have only one or two offspring at a time?

Evolution can result in awesome things: mantis shrimp colors, poison dart frog poison, slime mold patterns, thousand year old giant sequoias. But evolution isn’t clever.
