things that immediately turn me off when reading your cover letter:
- bullet points (it’s OK, this is not a cover letter)
- starting your letter with “Dear Mrs. …” (never. ever. do this.)
- it being 8 pages long (no, seriously)
- referencing your resume (referencing your experience is great, but tell me about it, don’t be lazy)
